2021 Ford F-150

The all-new Ford F-150 appears in six trims: XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum, and Limited. Standard for the XL are accessories such as a dual-bar black grille, front four-wheel-drive tow hooks, halogen lamps, and a key-accessible locking tailgate.

Upper tiers toss in upgrades such as deployable running boards, heated mirrors with turn-signal indicators, and a power tailgate with built-in work surface and LED lighting. Other group options include a box length of 5.5, 6.5, or 8 feet as well as a regular, SuperCab, or SuperCrew cab.

The base unit is a 3.3-liter V-6 mated to a 10-speed automatic transmission. Together they produce 290 horsepower and 265 pound-feet of torque. The Lariat opts for a 2.7-liter twin-turbocharged V-6 with 325 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque. A 5.0-liter V-8 for the King Ranch pushes out 400 horsepower and 410 pound-feet of torque, while a 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6 for the Limited returns 400 horsepower and 500 pound-feet of torque.

A 3.0-liter turbo-diesel V-6 with 250 horsepower and 440 pound-feet of torque is also available, as is a 3.5-liter hybrid V-6. The latter partners with a 33-kilowatt electric motor that puts out 430 horsepower and 570 pound-feet of torque and earns up to 25 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the highway.

The Ford F-150 runs with your choice of all-season or all-terrain tires and two-wheel or four-wheel drive. On top of that, it features hill start assist, power rack-and-pinion steering, trailer sway control, and up to eight selectable drive modes: normal, eco, sport, tow/haul, slippery, trail, deep snow/sand, and mud/rut.

Higher trims offer add-ons such as adaptive steering, tri-level onboard charging stations, and an off-road package with hill descent control, performance shocks, and skid plates. And with the right equipment in tow, such as a class-four trailer hitch, this pickup can haul up to 14,000 pounds.

Cabin adornments include black vinyl flooring, cozy cloth seats with manual lumbar support, and a rear flip-up split-bench. The SuperCrew cab adds an elongated rear cushion and a fully flat cargo loading floor to the layout. Multimedia systems such as an 8-inch touch screen and a 4G LTE Wi-Fi hot spot are also at your disposal.

Available touch-ups include an auto-dimming rearview mirror, heated and cooled front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a twin-panel moonroof. Meanwhile, digital add-ons range from a 12-inch infotainment screen to integrated navigation services to a wireless smartphone charger.

The 2021 Ford F-150 comes with roll stability control, a passive anti-theft system, and side-curtain air bags for all seating positions. Not to mention, you have access to state-of-the-art technologies such as pre-collision assist, a rear backup camera, and an SOS post-crash alert.

Optional software ranges from lane keep assist to intelligent adaptive cruise control to speed sign recognition. Systems such as rain-sensing windshield wipers, front and rear parking sensors, and a surround-view camera are also within reach.
