2021 Ford Expedition

There are five trims available for the 2021 Ford Expedition: the XL, XLT, Limited, King Ranch, and Platinum. All trims except the base XL have an optional Expedition Max package, which extends the cargo space even further. The standard trim includes exterior features like 18-inch wheels, body-colored bumpers and door handles, halogen projector-beam headlights, incandescent taillights, and black side rails.

Higher trims add even more exterior amenities, such as a hands-free liftgate, larger wheels, special badges and emblems, and roof rails with crossbars, among others. The top two trims, King Ranch and Platinum, have their own special exterior trims, Stone Gray and Satin, respectively.

All 2021 Ford Expedition trims are powered by the same engine, a powerful 3.5-liter turbocharged V-6. It produces up to 375 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque for all trims except the top Platinum trim, which gets a slight upgrade that pushes the total output to 400 horsepower and 480 pound-feet of torque. The engine is paired with a smooth 10-speed automatic transmission. Four-wheel drive is available as an option for any trim.

A 2021 Ford Expedition equipped with the Platinum trim can reach a speed of 60 miles per hour from a standstill in 6.9 seconds, which is a great time for such a large vehicle. Towing performance is also impressive, with the Expedition having a tow rating of 9,300 pounds when equipped with the heavy-duty tow package.

As you may expect from an SUV this large, the 2021 Ford Expedition offers an impressive amount of interior space for up to eight passengers. All seats are also very spacious and comfortable, with the front ones having plenty of functions like massage and lumbar support. Getting in and out is very easy, and the excellent wind, engine, and road noise insulation adds to the overall comfort level.

Cargo space can also be a relevant performance indicator for a large SUV and the Expedition doesn't disappoint, with 20.9 cubic feet of space behind the three rows and no less than 104.6 cubic feet of space with the bottom two rows folded down.

Infotainment features are handled by the standard 4.2-inch infotainment screen, which is replaced by an 8-inch touch-screen interface for all other trims except the base. A 4G LTE WI-FI hot spot is also standard.

No modern family car would be complete without top safety features. Ford's Co-Pilot360 driver aids suite is standard for all trims and includes very useful active safety features, such as automatic high beams, a lane-keeping assist system, a blind-spot monitoring system with cross-traffic alert, and automatic emergency braking. There are also some optional driver aids, like the full-speed adaptive cruise control system, which keeps a steady distance between the Expedition and the car in front.
